Computational and Applied Mathematician at NASA
Dr. Mark H. Carpenter is a computational and applied mathematician with 30 years of aerospace experience at NASA Langley Research Center. He has developed numerous algorithms for nonlinear P.D.E.s, including 1) novel high-order spatial operators, 2) novel explicit and implicit temporal operators and 3) efficient techniques for computational linear algebra. Achieving linear and nonlinear discrete stability is a recurring motivation in his algorithmic research, driven by practical engineering considerations. Dr. Carpenter served a sabbatical year at Tech U Delft in the aerodynamics/applied math group, and a semester at Uppsala University in the Dept. of Information Technology. He is currently at KAUST on a CRDF-sponsored assignment.
