The SpectralDNS Project

In this talk I will present the spectralDNS project (https://github.com/spectralDNS). In spectralDNS, we implement Navier-Stokes solvers for Direct Numerical Simulations of turbulent flows. The solvers are implemented in the high-level Python language, and this is done without compromising significantly on speed. I will show a Navier-Stokes solver that is merely a script at 100 lines, but that still scales for thousands of processors at the KAUST Supercomputing Laboratory. The talk will address challenges and advantages with using high-level languages for high performance computing.
